Are you a salsa fan?
The Downtown Salsa Showdown is upon us and you do not want to miss out! Individuals, businesses, and organizations from across Grand Prairie will compete for the title of Salsa Showdown Champion. This event will take place at the Farmers Market on Saturday, September 14th. The public will purchase tickets to sample and vote on who they think has the best salsa in town! We will have 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners based on the official judges’ decision as well as a People’s Choice winner based on the number of public votes. The winners will be awarded prize money for their charity of choice and a Salsa Showdown trophy or certificate. The entry fee is only $20!
This is a great opportunity to show off your culinary skills and give back to the community. If you want to participate, please email Jordyn Whitney (jwhitney@gptx.org) ASAP. Spots are limited (10). We hope to see you there!

Take a walk around Downtown as you sample Latin + Local brews. Pay $10 at the Grand Prairie Farmers Market and receive a wristband and punch card. Then follow the route sampling various beers inside Main Street businesses. Those who make it to the end of the route will be able to turn in their plastic mug for a commemorative glass.
It’s a family-friendly event, so we will have non-alcoholic beverages available along the route as well.

GRAND PRAIRIE—Mayor Ron Jensen invites the community to join him for Cyclin’ with the Mayor on Thursday, Sept. 19. Participants are asked to meet at 6 p.m. at Waggoner Park, 2122 N. Carrier Parkway. The ride will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Cyclin’ with the Mayor is a series of monthly bike rides that are part of the Get Fit GP initiative. Each ride is estimated to be a distance of about five to six miles and is set at a leisurely pace. Participants must bring a bike to participate. Updated location information for all the upcoming rides is posted on www.gptx.org/GetFitGP.
The Get Fit GP initiative offers local resources to improve health through physical fitness and healthy food options for Grand Prairie citizens.
