Grand Prairie Parks, Arts & Recreation Administration Office

Parks, Arts & Recreation Administration Office Closed
The City of Grand Prairie Parks, Arts & Recreation office is closed to the public until further notice. These measures have been taken due to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Metroplex, mandates/directives put in place by the State of Texas and Dallas County Health Department, and out of an abundance of caution by The City of Grand Prairie.

Action Park Alliance Skate Park

Action Park Alliance Skate Park will be closing until further notice.
The retail store will be open 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. for shopping on a *case by case basis.

*Guests may call in an order and have it ready for them or guests can shop on site individually in the shop by calling to request a time.

Athletics

Athletic Programs Suspended
All City of Grand Prairie Parks, Arts & Recreation Department athletic programs will be suspended through May 10, 2020. These measures have been taken due to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Metroplex, mandates/directives put in place by the State of Texas and Dallas County Health Department, and out of an abundance of caution by The City of Grand Prairie.

Central Bark Dog Park

Central Bark Dog Park is CLOSED through May 10.

Charley Taylor Recreation Center

How long will Charley Taylor be closed? We are currently closed through May 10, 2020 and we will be updating as decisions are made.

Is it just Charley Taylor Recreation that is closed? No, all centers in Grand Prairie are closed for the safety of our members. These measures have been taken due to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Metroplex, mandates/directives put in place by the State of Texas and Dallas County Health Department, and out of an abundance of caution by The City of Grand Prairie. Will the Pre-K Outdoor Soccer League be postponed? Will it still play the full number of weeks initially signed up for? Yes, it will be postponed at least for the next 14 days starting March 14, 2020.  We will keep all of our coaches updated on a day by day basis. Yes, the league will still play for the number of weeks initially planned for (six weeks).

Will other classes and programs be affected during this closure?  Yes, all other classes and programs will be postponed for at least the next 14 days. Any classes missed will be made up accordingly.

Will I get a credit for my membership for when you are closed? Yes, we will be extending everyone’s membership for however long we are closed.  Also, if someone just wants to cancel their membership, we will honor that and refund them a prorated amount.

Will I get a refund for any rentals already booked during closure days, or can I postpone my rental for a future date? Yes, any rentals affected during this time of the facility closure will be refunded in full with discretion of the customer. However, if opt out of refund, any rentals affected during our closure time can also get postponed to a future date, if available. Keep in mind we are not aware of an exact opening date as of this moment.

Will the center provide an extension of Spring Break Camp while the children are out of school? No, unfortunately, we will remain closed to all public for at least the next 14 days and will not be able to provide an extension of Spring Break Camp.

Dalworth Recreation Center

Are the children able to come to the recreation center for a free snack program? At the moment, we are not passing out free snacks due to the requirements that have been set forth from the City Of Grand Prairie.

When will the recreation center reopen? The recreation center will be closed until further notice. Please visit www.gptx.org for more information on building closures.

Can I get a refund for my reservation? If so, how do I get my refund processed? Yes, we are refunding customers for reservations that have been scheduled. Please call the recreation center at (972) 237-4760 to get more details on the refund process at this time.

Can I use my membership at another facility while Dalworth Recreation Center is closed? Please keep in mind that all other facilities are closed at this time. Therefore, no membership visits are presently allowed.

The Epic

Facility will be CLOSED through Sunday, May 10, 2020. (subject to change)

We value all of our members and guests and know this break in everyone’s fitness journey is very frustrating.  We also understand that questions may arise pertaining to your membership plan purchase, class, event, or party.  Staff is working diligently during this unique time to communicate regarding different membership plans. Please see below on some information pertaining to your possible item of purchase.

  • Annual memberships and annual upgrade purchases – Additional time will be added to your annual membership plan for the entire time frame we are closed.  You will not miss any time and do not need to contact The Epic to make these changes to your membership plan.
  • Auto-draft memberships and auto-draft upgrade purchases – All auto-draft memberships and recurring payments will be cancelled effective immediately and no cancellation fees are charged.  If the most recent draft has already been sent to your banking institution and the payment hits your account, contact us to receive a refund for that payment.  You will be eligible to re-enroll in this membership plan by stopping by the Guest Services desk when our facility opens and you would like to begin use.
  • (1) month & (3) month memberships – All members on this plan will receive communication from an Epic team member regarding a prorated refund deducting the time of purchase until the original closure date of March 14.  You will be eligible to re-purchase the full month membership plan by stopping by the Guest Services desk when our facility opens and you would like to begin use.
  • Parties & Rentals – All parties and rentals booked through Sunday, May 10th will be cancelled.  Event hosts will receive communication from an Epic team member regarding a rescheduled option date in the future as available or a full refund.  Parties & rentals occurring after May 10th will be continued to be monitored and followed in accordance to guidelines from the CDC.
  • Program participants – All programs, classes, and events through Sunday, May 10th will be cancelled.  Participants will receive communication from an Epic team member regarding a refund.
  • Camp Epic Summer Day Camp – Communication will be released at a later date regarding registration time frames and camp offerings as we continue to monitor and follow the guidelines of the CDC.

Please note that The Epic is also in the process of transitioning into a new software system around the May time frame so we may need to collect your most up to date information for your account when re-enrolling in your membership plan or class program once the facility reopens.  We cannot wait to reopen our doors to our members and guests once the appropriate time allows.

Will I get a credit for my membership for when you are closed? An extension will be added to your membership plan. More information will be released at a later date once we are able to gather the final timeline of this closure period. We definitely apologize for this inconvenience and will be updating our membership base as soon as available.

I booked a birthday party or rental, will my party still take place? All Open Swim, Private Pool Parties and rentals during our immediate shut down period through May 10 will be cancelled. Staff is contacting all party hosts affected by the closure and will reschedule if available or issue full refunds. If your party is past May 10, and you have questions, please email tgardner@gptx.org or edeltoro@gptx.org . We will do our best to reschedule, issue credits or refunds.

Will I get a refund for a class? Yes, you will receive a prorated credit or refund for any cancelled class. More information will be released at a later date once we are able to determine a final timeline.

Lake Parks - Loyd Park & Lynn Creek

Lake Parks Operations Office

The City of Grand Prairie Lake Parks Operations Office is closed to the public until further notice. These measures have been taken due to the current state of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Metroplex, mandates/directives put in place by the State of Texas and Dallas County Health Department, and out of an abundance of caution by The City of Grand Prairie.

PLEASE NOTE: Lake Parks are NOT closed, you can still book online and over the phone. Our gate house is still open.

Parks, Pavilions & Trails

Parks (excluding Loyd Park and Lynn Creek Park), playgrounds (excluding PlayGrand Adventures), and trails remain open, however all park restrooms and drinking fountains are CLOSED until further notice.

Pavilion use is allowed for gatherings of NO MORE THAN 10 people at a time. Social distancing is strongly recommended. Reservations will not be accepted until further notice.

 

PlayGrand Adventures

Prairie Lakes Golf Course & Eddlemon's BBQ

Food/Grill
Eddlemon’s BBQ at Prairie Lakes Golf Course remains open for carry-out orders only. Inside dining is not permitted at this time, however there are places to sit outside as long as the latest social distancing requirements are being observed.
Additionally, customers may call in pick-up lunch orders by calling 972-262-0304.

Ruthe Jackson Center

The Ruthe Jackson Center is closed until further notice.

The Summit 50+ Center

FAQ

How long will The Summit be closed? We do not have a certain date as this situation is fluid but we will be updating as decisions are made by National, State, County and City Officials.

Why is just the Summit closed? The Summit is closed for the safety of our members and the Dallas County Executive Order strongly urges that our Senior (High Risk) Population avoid group gatherings of 10 or more.

Will the Nutrition Program be operating?  Yes, we will be contacting participants over the phone and hot meals can be picked up between 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday from the front of The Summit.  We can also deliver to Grand Prairie residents, 60 and older during the Summit closure.  We ask that any prospective participants please contact Eduvina Cruz -972-237-4148  ecruz@gptx.org.

Can I still apply for the Nutrition Program? Yes, we are still accepting participants, 60 and older, Grand Prairie or Dallas County Residents.   Delivery from Summit Staff will be limited to GP residents.  Paperwork for prospective residents will be available via email or hand deliver/pickup.  The delivery will only be during the Summit Closure.  Upon re-opening the Nutrition Program at The Summit’s facilities will resume.

Will I get a credit for my membership for when you are closed? Yes, we will be extending everyone’s membership for however long we are closed.  Also, if someone just wants to cancel their membership we will honor that and refund them a prorated amount.

Will I get a refund for a trip, class, event or program? Yes, all cancelled classes, trips, events or programs will be refunded and or credited on membership card per the discretion of our members.

Tangle Ridge Golf Course
