However, at this time, The Summit 50+ facility will remain closed out of an abundance of caution and for the continued safety of our members and volunteers, especially those who may be at a higher risk. City staff and elected officials are continually monitoring this ever-changing situation and considering each and every one of the many factors that are involved in these decisions. We look forward to reopening this facility once again and appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through this unique period of time.

FAQ

How long will The Summit be closed? We do not have a certain date as this situation is fluid but we will be updating as decisions are made by National, State, County and City Officials.

Why is just the Summit closed? The Summit is closed for the safety of our members and the Dallas County Executive Order strongly urges that our Senior (High Risk) Population avoid group gatherings of 10 or more.

Will the Nutrition Program be operating?  Yes, we will be contacting participants over the phone and hot meals can be picked up between 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monday-Friday from the front of The Summit.  We can also deliver to Grand Prairie residents, 60 and older during the Summit closure.  We ask that any prospective participants please contact Eduvina Cruz -972-237-4148  ecruz@gptx.org.

Can I still apply for the Nutrition Program? Yes, we are still accepting participants, 60 and older, Grand Prairie or Dallas County Residents.   Delivery from Summit Staff will be limited to GP residents.  Paperwork for prospective residents will be available via email or hand deliver/pickup.  The delivery will only be during the Summit Closure.  Upon re-opening the Nutrition Program at The Summit’s facilities will resume.

Will I get a credit for my membership for when you are closed? Yes, we will be extending everyone’s membership for however long we are closed.  Also, if someone just wants to cancel their membership we will honor that and refund them a prorated amount.

Will I get a refund for a trip, class, event or program? Yes, all cancelled classes, trips, events or programs will be refunded and or credited on membership card per the discretion of our members.
