Celebrating over 50 years of existence, the Grand Prairie Parks, Arts & Recreation Department is dedicated to \u201ccreating a GRAND lifestyle\u201d. The Grand Prairie Parks, Arts & Recreation department features world class parks and facilities, a wide-array of exciting program opportunities, and numerous special events throughout the year.<\/span><\/p>\n

PARQUES, ARTES Y RECREACI\u00d3N DE GP: UNA MEDALLA DE ORO Y UN DEPARTAMENTO ACREDITADO POR CAPRA<\/h2>\n

El Departamento de Parques, Arte y Recreaci\u00f3n de Grand Prairie fue nombrado el mejor del pa\u00eds cuando recibi\u00f3 la codiciada Medalla de Oro de la Asociaci\u00f3n Nacional de Parques y Recreaci\u00f3n el 26 de septiembre de 2017, en su conferencia anual en Nueva Orleans.<\/p>\n

La Medalla de Oro es un programa del Academia Estadounidense para la Administraci\u00f3n de Parques y Recreaci\u00f3n<\/a> (AAPRA), en colaboraci\u00f3n con la Asociaci\u00f3n Nacional de Parques y Recreaci\u00f3n<\/a> (NRPA).  Grand Prairie won in the Class II division for cities of population between 150,001 and 400,000.<\/p>\n

Agencies are judged on their ability to address the needs of those they serve through the collective energies of citizens, staff and elected officials.  Judges cited Grand Prairie\u2019s 5,010 acres of parkland in 58 parks, trail systems, community partnerships, hundreds of special events, unique programming for all ages, means and backgrounds, 1\/4 cent sales tax for park improvements, the Summit Active Adult Center, The Epic (Fitness, Arts, & Entertainment), Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark and PlayGrand Adventures all-accessible playground for people of all abilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so honored to receive this tremendous recognition,\u201d said Mayor Ron Jensen.  \u201cOn top of the Gold Medal win in 2008, this clearly shows Grand Prairie is committed to quality of life and enhancing the value and experience for our residents through parks, arts and recreation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t say enough good things about our dedicated and innovative staff, energized Park Board and active residents and community partners,\u201d said Rick Herold, Parks, Arts and Recreation Director.  \u201cI am blessed to work with an employee and residential family of people passionate about parks, community, unity and serving others.\u201d<\/p>\n
