The Kirby Creek Natatorium is offering American Red Cross Lifeguard Training classes for the public. Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you’ll learn teamwork, rescue, surveillance skills, First Aid, CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard.
Prerequisites: Must be at least 15 years old and pass certain swimming requirements listed below.
Where: Kirby Creek Natatorium
What to Bring: 1 piece suit, towel, goggles, food/snack & water
Requirements:
1. Must attend all classes and must pass the written tests with an 80% and practical tests 100%.
2. Must be able to swim 300 yards (12 lengths of the pool) freestyle or breaststroke
3. Must be able to tread water for two minutes with your hands out of the water.
4. Must be able to surface dive to 9ft and retrieve a 10lb brick and swim with it on your back to the other side of the pool.
