The City of Grand Prairie is excited to announce a partnership with the National Fitness Campaign (NFC) to introduce six innovative Fitness Courts® across the community. These outdoor fitness installations are designed to offer residents a full-body workout in just seven minutes, completely free of charge.
Each Fitness Court® features seven distinct zones: Core, Squat, Push, Lunge, Pull, Agility, and Bend, allowing users to rotate through a comprehensive circuit training routine that energizes the body and mind. This unique approach ensures that individuals can maximize their workout while enjoying the beauty of the outdoors.
The Fitness Courts will be installed at:
- Tyre Park – 2327 Tyre Street
- Mi Familia Park – 2400 Cardiff Street
- Epic Central – 2960 Epic Place
- Fish Creek Linear – 4610 Creekside
- Freedom Park – 1501 Coffeyville Trail
- Charley Taylor Park – 601 E. Grand Prairie Road
More than just fitness equipment, each Fitness Court® is a striking piece of public art. In 2023, Grand Prairie Parks, Arts & Recreation issued a call for artists to create artwork on the six installations. The selected artists include:
- Elsa Tarango | “Arbol de Vida” Tree of Life”
- Joshua Montgomery | “Go Grand!”
- Antonella Rachelle Ghio Olsen | “Deep in the Heart of GP”
- Esther Torres Ghio | “You Are Capable”
- Clayon Hendrix | “The Fitness Journey”
- Heath Cromwell | “Royal Waves”
Construction is currently underway at each of the six parks. An anticipated completion date is set for mid-October.
With this initiative, Grand Prairie is committed to promoting health, wellness, and community engagement for all its residents.
