Hours of Operation

Kirby Creek Natatorium is open for Lap Swim and limited Open Swim. Lap Swim is for adults looking to lap swim or water walk, with six (6) lanes available. Children under the age of 12 may not swim without aquatic staff approval. Open Swim is for families and children looking to swim and play.

Lap Swim:
Monday – Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00, 4:00 p.m – 8:00 p.m
Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00, 4:00 p.m – 6:00 p.m
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Open Swim
Saturday: 1:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.

Swim Lessons

Year-round swim lessons at Kirby Creek Natatorium, offered by SafeSplash Swim School.
Jump into lessons on the following days:

  • Monday: 4:35 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 4:35 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: Morning lessons coming soon

 

Classes are available from the ages of 6 yrs to adults. Please note that other swim lessons for younger swimmers (5 and under), parent & toddler, and special needs classes occur at The Epic.

Splash is a TAAF-affiliated swim team that aims to develop your swimmer’s technique while increasing their speed and endurance. Through fun workouts, your swimmer will build the skills needed to be an outstanding athlete while building relationships with friends and coaches. Swimmers condition year-round with weekly competitions in the summer.

Practice Information
• Days: Tuesday/Thursday
• Time: 7-8 p.m.
• Cost: $75

Tryouts
All new swimmers require an evaluation tryout. Participants 7 years and younger must swim freestyle and backstroke without assistance for 25 meters each. Participants 8 years old and older will be required to swim all four competitive strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle) without assistance for 25 meters each.

Tryouts are held every Tuesday and Thursday between 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. No appointment is needed.

Coach Addie

Head Coach Addie Carr
Coach Addie has been a swim coach for 28 years, starting her swimming journey at age 9 with Hilo Swim Club in Hawaii. She later swam at the collegiate level for New Mexico Highlands University. She values the opportunity to teach her swimmers important life skills through the sport and enjoys celebrating their individual milestones and growth into young adults. Her favorite stroke is backstroke. A fun fact about Coach Addie is that she loves McDonald’s French fries and enjoys reading and gardening in her free time. 

Lead Coach Brenden Gilliam

Lead Coach Brenden Gilliam
Coach Brenden began swimming at 14 for the South Grand Prairie High School Swim Team and is captain of the SGP Water Polo Team. He brings energy and spirit to the Splash Swim Team and enjoys interacting with his swimmers during practices and meets. He values the community and friendships that develop among his swimmers. His favorite stroke is the butterfly, and he loves swimming the 500 Free. Additionally, he plays water polo for both his high school and the USA team North Texas Thunder.

Lead Coach Hailey Melendez

Lead Coach Hailey Melendez
Coach Hailey started swimming at 14 for Bowie High School.  She appreciates the passion her Splash swimmers have for the sport and enjoys seeing their hard work and dedication. She emphasizes kindness and support within the team. Her favorite stroke is backstroke, and she enjoys swimming in the 200 Medley relay. A fun fact about Coach Hailey is that she loves participating in community service projects.

Coach Esteban Soriano

Coach Esteban Soriano
Coach Esteban enjoys coaching the Splash Swim Team because he loves witnessing his swimmers’ growth throughout the training season. He began swimming at 14 as a Splash swimmer and competed for the South Grand Prairie High School in 2023. He focuses on creating fun and engaging practices. His favorite events are the 500 Free and the 100 Butterfly. A fun fact about him is that he started participating in sports at age 4, having played baseball, soccer, hockey, swimming, track, cross country, and water polo. Esteban is currently studying biology at UTA.

Coach Aidan Nguyen

Coach Aidan Nguyen

Coach Aidan began swimming at 14 for the South Grand Prairie High School Swim Team and plays water polo. He emphasizes the growth of his swimmers and creates a family-like atmosphere. He enjoys coaching at summer meets and values the mutual support among his Splash swimmers during races. Making his swimmers smile during practice is a priority for him. A fun fact about Coach Aidan is that he aims to explore other sports to become a more well-rounded athlete, and he plays water polo for the USA Team North Texas Thunder.

Coach Austin Nguyen

Coach Austin Nguyen

Coach Austin began swimming at age 5 with Splash and now serves as captain of both the South Grand Prairie High School swim team and water polo team. He enjoys witnessing the growth of his team and fellow coaches, and he is inspired by his swimmers to continually improve the Splash Team. His favorite stroke is freestyle, and he also plays water polo for the USA Team North Texas Thunder.

Coach Zeren Ratsaphangthong

Coach Zeren Ratsaphangthong

Coach Zeren is the captain of both the South Grand Prairie High School swim team and water polo team. He enjoys coaching and helping swimmers enhance their technique and character. His favorite swimming stroke is breaststroke, especially in the 100 breast and 200 medley relay events. He also plays water polo for the USA Team North Texas Thunder and enjoys participating in matches with fellow coaches.

Open Swim Rentals are during open swim hours. Cost includes up to 25 swimmers, lifeguards, and reserved tables. If a party exceeds the 25-swimmer limit, each swimmer will be charged the open swim entry fee. Schedule rentals in person at Kirby Creek on a first-come, first-serve basis. Saturday 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., $100 (per time slot)

Private Rentals are after business hours, and the cost includes up to 50 swimmers, lifeguards, and tables. Reservations must be scheduled in person at Kirby Creek 2 weeks in advance and are on a first-come, first-serve basis. To check for availability at 972-237-4170.
