CURRENT & UPCOMING YOUTH SPORTS LEAGUES

The Grand Prairie Parks, Arts & Recreation Department offers many sports leagues, clinics, and classes that focus on fundamentals, principals, rules, and sportsmanship.

Sports are a great way for youth to learn teamwork, and develop a healthy sense of competitiveness. Not to mention sports give youth the opportunity to strengthen their bodies, and develop into healthy young men and women.

Virtual eSports

GP PARD is launching eSports leagues for ages 13 and up!

  • Age groups are 13-17 years old, and 18 and up.
  • The leagues will be for FIFA 20 (Soccer) and NBA 2K20 (Basketball)
  • There are Xbox1 leagues and PlayStation 4 leagues for each game and age group
  • The cost is $10 per registrant per league (a person may register for multiple leagues)
  • All games will be played from home, online. Players must have an Xbox1 or Playstation 4, the game the league is playing, and an internet connection to participate.
  • Registration ENDS June 22nd and space is limited, so register soon!

Mommy/Daddy & Me Soccer
Ages 2-3.5: The fun happens together, so don’t just watch from the sidelines! Here is your chance to join in your toddler’s introduction to the world’s most popular sport. You’ll participate in fun, age-appropriate activities, and help your child to develop their motor and socialization skills. A variety of soccer activities are played each week. Adult participation is required.

Tot-Soccer
Ages 3.5-4: Tot-Soccer helps kids learn to be part of a structured group activity without a parent by their side. Our time-tested, age specific curriculum builds confidence and promotes physical development in a safe, supportive and fun environment. Tot-Soccer focuses on helping kids develop their large motor skills through demonstrations and entertaining games like Bugs in the House!

Pre-Soccer
Ages 4-5: Pre-Soccer helps youngsters develop a lifelong love of soccer while we introduce concepts of playing on a team. Our curriculum includes energetic, all-inclusive games that teach young kids the basics about playing with a group. In addition to building their soccer skills, Pre-Soccer kids begin learning the fundamentals of good sportsmanship through sharing, passing and being aware of other players.

Soccer 1
Ages: 5-6: Players will learn dribbling, passing, defense and shooting goals! Fun skill games are played at every session, as every participant has a ball at their feet. Concepts of small-sided soccer matches will be introduced gradually. Perfect for first time players while being fun and engaging for kids with some experience.

Soccer 2
Ages 7-10: A great introduction to competitive soccer. Soccer 2 teaches advanced skill building such as dribbling, passing and shooting in a team format, as well as an introduction to goaltending. Kids learn concepts necessary to play together as a team. From defense and midfield to forward and goalie…kids get exposure to every position and have a blast doing it. Appropriate for players of varying skill levels.

Youth Summer Volleyball League

Ages 9-12: The City of Grand Prairie Parks, Arts & Recreation Department is providing a youth volleyball league. The league will introduce a strong foundation of volleyball, while developing fundamental skills, and promoting self-confidence, team cooperation and sportsmanship. This is a great opportunity for your child to play a great game in a fun environment.

Youth Fall Soccer League

Ages 4-16: This soccer league is a great environment for your child to learn and develop soccer skills. The league will promote sportsmanship, self-confidence and skill development in an active and safe learning environment. See you on the field!

Registration Dates:
July 1 – August 22

Season:
First game is September 12. Teams will play 8 games.

Game Days:
Saturdays. Weeknights possible for rain-out games.

Practices:
One practice per week on weeknight determined by coach. Practices begin the week of August 31.

$75 per player: Fee includes uniform.

Fall Middle School Baseball League

Fall Middle School Baseball League – Danny Boykin Baseball Fields
Grand Prairie Middle School Grades 6th – 8th: This baseball league will be comprised of Grand Prairie Middle Schools. Players will sign up individually, and be placed on the school they attend. The league will introduce a strong foundation of baseball, while developing fundamental skills, and promoting self-confidence, team cooperation and sportsmanship. This is a great opportunity for your child to play a great game in a fun environment.
